Startup's update: Find out how Omni Wind took it to the next level!

Haarlem, January. Last year, startup Omni Wind was the winner of the Haarlem edition. It’s been months since the program ended and we had an update chat with the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of startup Omni Wind, Pranav Tetali. Read the following article to know more.

Part of the team Omni Wind when they won Present Your Startup Haarlem 2021, also our PYS Founder, Valerie Vallenduuk; board member Brigitte Paulissen: and Project Leader The Netherlands, Mike Rijers.

Where is Omni Wind after the PYS program?

P: We have completed the patent search process with RVO. We filled in a request form and asked RVO to conduct a search if there are any patents filed similar to our idea. The researcher at RVO conducted the research for 6 weeks and sent us a detailed report. The report has given us clear direction and further strategy for filing our patent. We have completed procuring all the equipment for the field test and getting ready to conduct our first test.

What comes after the first patent application?

P: The first application is always based on currently available information. Once it is filed we get one year to add new information.

How important is the first field test?

P: The field test is a standard step in the technical development of a new wind turbine. Our customers and potential investors asked for it. The test will establish a solid proof of concept experimentally. We have already brought all the equipment for the test and the plan is to finish the test by end of February this year.

Even if it’s a standard step, is it still a milestone for the startup?

P: Yes, the test will provide us with a solid validation of our product’s performance. The test data will develop confidence in our customers and investors and they will be able to trust our product. The first test will be conducted in Eindhoven.

Have there been changes in the team of Omni Wind?

P: The core team is intact and the same till now. We have one intern Bita Ahsant, who is currently helping us strengthen our business case with her research. And, we are planning to hire one or two more interns from T/U Eindhoven for the field test and further technical work.

Would you like to share any other news Pranav?

P: We are already planning our first pilot at a client location. We have achieved significant milestones in 2021, but we have miles to go, and 2022 is going to be a very important year for Omni. So keep following and supporting us and together we will make the world green and sustainable!!

Startup's update: OneApp is booming. Check the news!

December, Haarlem. Entrepreneurs Sherzod Khoshimov and Hera Hyseni, two of the members of startup OneApp, participated in our program Present Your Startup Haarlem 2021. They got to the last stage becoming one of the five finalists. It’s been months since the program ended and now, we share news about where this cool startup stands.

If it’s your first time reading about this company, we explain to you what they do. OneApp is the easiest way to apply for your dream job, it allows you to apply to multiple vacancies with one single application. This means they help you reduce the number of steps in the process. In short, OneApp makes hiring and admission processes fast, cheap, and fair.

During our acceleration program, team OneApp realized that traction is very important. Sherzod took the advice he was given and said: “We were told that we should try to capture a large portion of a given niche, even if that niche is very small, in order to prove that people want the service that we are building”.

Indeed, by having a niche, you can speak directly to your ideal client. Why is this communication important? For a simple reason, because it helps you attract people into your business, so without a niche, not only you do not stand out, but also, you are not speaking to your target.

Where is OneApp after the PYS program?

Right after the program, we came up with a strategy to capture a market we know the best: IT job market in Uzbekistan. We launched OneApp there, and in 4 months we became the biggest application platform for tech and IT jobs in the country. We are also developing university application service in Uzbekistan at the moment. From July onwards, we are planning to scale OneApp worldwide”, said Sherzod, entrepreneur, and founder of OneApp.

Startup's update: GlamPop keeps glowing. Founder Jake Raijmann tells us why!

December, Haarlem. Jake Raijmann, founder of startup GlamPop was one of the top five finalists that made it to the last stage of our program, the Finals Present Your Startup Haarlem 2019, pitching his business to investors, a jury panel, and a huge crowd in the theater Philharmonie Haarlem. After almost 2 years of this edition, we talked to Jake to know more about how his company kept growing. Read the following article to know the details.

Jake Raijmann, founder of startup GlamPop had some very busy weeks after our program. He started by preparing the first Curly Hair Masterclass in Suriname: "The masterclass was held in the first week of the year 2020 and was a success. With that success under our belt, we reached out to a sales coach to help plan and execute our B2B sales strategy. And, in our first week of starting, corona hit. We were forced to shut down our operations", said Jake.

Although, after PYS no financial investments were made in their business, they said they understood that because the investor landscape in the Netherlands is different. Nonetheless, they received exposure which helped them to get connected with mentors and advisors. Currently, they are back to fundraising with a stronger team and more traction under their belt.

Had the pandemic effects on this startup?

Last year was very challenging because GlamPop was not allowed to open its business, and when they did, they were still challenged with a decrease in the demand because of restrictions such as a ban on events and social gatherings. For more than a year, they were unable to grow because there was no money coming in, luckily their costs were not too high and they were able to survive.

On the other hand, the corona time was positive for this business, it helped them to think on the past years, and they saw in which areas they could grow and doubled down on that.

Why people is important in GlamPop?

As Jake mentioned, their goal is to get great people in their start-up team, reach their growth goals while having fun doing it, and create a great inclusive working culture. Therefore, they decided to invest in growing the team, and at the moment, they are 5 team members and currently hiring more. They added a valuable person to the management team, and they have more people helping them to reach their goals even faster. And they moved into our new Headquarters in the center of Rotterdam. "We are investing in people, in systems and software. This will enable us to grow in a structured manner and to get one step closer to our overall vision of being the first choice for a Luxury beauty experience on-demand", says Jake.

What are the plans for GlamPop?

At the moment, GlamPop is busy with a complete rebranding, which will get their brand to a new level. In the meantime, they keep offering their services. Getting the foundation right is their priority number one.

In December, they plan to go live with their new website, and later, they will be launching a mobile app. They are also expanding their services by recruiting more freelancers on their Beauty Artist network, as well as offering their services to more cities.

As soon as the restrictions of the pandemic are gone, they are planning on introducing new concepts such as group experiences, office experiences, and products.

Startup Tickete raises more than half million of seed funding

Haarlem, September, 10th, 2021 - Present Your Startup Haarlem 2019 finalist Tickete - Digital Receipts & Personalized Rewards has good news to share. Their founder, Desirée Bos, did an interview with us

Tickete- Digital Receipts & Personalized Rewards challenges the traditional paper receipt. Tickete provides the market with an accessible, and generic solution to have receipts digitized to reduce the enormous impact on our planet. Did you know that a paper receipt is a chemical waste? If we assume that all households in the Netherlands receive three receipts per week, then that is more than one billion receipts per year and thousands of trees, liters of oil, and kilograms of waste. Besides that, receipts are just a hassle, they take space in the wallet, they fade, they are washed, or they even get lost.

Some initiatives can be seen in the market, where there are apps available that you can use to make pictures of your receipts, or retailers that send a receipt to your email address, or the newest invention, where retailers (supermarkets mainly at this point) request you to download their app so you can get your receipt. But as a consumer, who wants to keep several applications that are rarely used? With the consumer and retailer at heart, Tickete’s ambition is that their solution will work with all POS systems, and the first stones of that road are paved as they have created a network of internationally operating POS suppliers.

Like many entrepreneurs, Desirée Bos, founder of Tickete, and finalist in our accelerator program of Haarlem 2019 faced challenges, nonetheless, they did not stop her from moving forward and embracing everything that came along the way to get better. “We have encountered many challenges; we have even been at a breaking point. However, we took and are taking them on, one by one. We believe in our solution, and as the market is showing, it is becoming more ready than it ever was. We are super excited to scale at this time!”, said Desirée.

New chapter

Desirée has a clear mindset of what was the next steps are going to be. Thanks to 5 investors from Kaasstad Kapitaal and Datiq, her company will receive an investment of 275.000 EUR i cash and software development services for the upcoming 2 years. “I’m feeling thrilled to start this new chapter and we couldn’t be happier with the shareholders and stakeholders that we have onboarded. All of them bring different expertise which will help our company scale and making digital receipts the new standard”, said Desirée.

The event took place at the Philharmonie in Haarlem and was hosted by Mike Rijkers, Present Your Startup Leader. Entrepreneur Pranav Tetali, founder of Omni WInd impressed the panel with a powerful pitch, a solid business plan, and confident answers.

Pranav Tetali said after the show: “After winning the competition, it felt like all our efforts in the last six months has met with success. We feel more inspired to continue working hard on Omni Wind. The experience with the program has been way above our expectations. The judging line-up included: Rixt Herklots (The Next Women), Tessa Wanders (Peak Capital), and Jurriaan Duivenvoorden (Born05). “Great to see how all the founders made very impressive growth, during the PYS programme, both on personal as on a business level. Very excited to see what the future brings for the winner and the other competitors”, said the chair of the jury panel, Jurriaan Duivenvoorden.

Our program in Haarlem

The organization of this program has been possible thanks to our partners. We are proud to work together with Gemeente Haarlem, Cupola XS, Tape, Innovate Today, and Köster Advocaten.

We had an Introduction day in February, and after a week of training at our Academy in March, startups presented their businesses to investors, experts, partners, and an online crowd. The event took place in the Hotel Van den Valk in Haarlem. The jury members evaluated every pitch and business plan, at the end of the event, they selected the finalists. “The Academy week brought us a lot of new insights and inspiration. It was great meeting everyone”, said Cammy Breeveld, Founder of Movely.

All finalists of the program tested their pitch with investors on May 27th in the Exclusive Investors Lunch at Brouwerskolkje Exclusief. We made sure they got connected to a part of our network of investors and experts. After the pitch of each of the finalists, and during the lunch, entrepreneurs received feedback from the investors. “An investor’s lunch sounds scary at the beginning. Everything needs to be perfect. But in reality, it is just a gathering of likely-minded people trying to help each other reach goals. This is what I loved about this afternoon, the vibes were amazing!”- said Tymo, finalist from startup LIMEG.

Afterward, all finalists had an online meeting with our team to received feedback and the last tips to get ready for the Finals. “It has been a pleasure to participate in the PYS program. We will implement the feedback to the best of our abilities so as to improve our product and business concept”, said Sherzod Khoshimov, Founder of OneApp

Everyone was invited to vote for their favorite startup on June 28th at our website. Tonight, the voting stopped. We will be announcing the Public Choice Award tomorrow, the 7th of July surprising the winner.
